Talking Funny: About Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is Britain's biggest comedian, he is best known as the creator and star of 'The Office' and 'Extras', which he also wrote and co-directed with Stephen Merchant.

He has also written, directed and starred in Hollywood movies and is currently producer of 'The Ricky Gervais Show' and 'An Idiot Abroad'. And of course his comedy podcast has been downloaded over 300 million times!

But Ricky is also one of the biggest Stand-ups on the planet. He has sold over 2 million tickets worldwide, and holds the record for the Fastest-selling tour of all time with 100,000 tickets going in under 9 minutes.

His first American show was nominated for 3 Emmys and saw him sell out 3 nights at Madison Square Garden.

He also did a VIP charity gig, where he was introduced by David Bowie, singing 'Little Fat Man' from his 'Extras' episode.

For the encore Ricky sang 'New York, New York' with Elmo.

He has hosted the 'Golden Globes' twice, with a global audience of over 200 million, both times. 'I suppose I did that for a laugh initially, but I also wanted to show that I could write and deliver One-liners', Ricky said.

"I came to stand up relatively late but I have come to love it. Both the challenge and the privilege excites me. People have spent hard earned cash to get a ticket, arranged a baby sitter, and travelled to the gig in their thousands. You'd better have something interesting to say", he added.
